Owners of retailer De Silva bet on an international chain hotel in the Nicovani Valley wine region

The owners, the Călina family, of the distributor De Silva, which has in its portfolio brands such as Merci, Toffifee, Haribo, Vittel, Perrier, San Benedetto, Dom Perignon, Moet & Chandon and others, are betting on an international chain hotel in the wine-growing area of Valea Nicovani, which will open under the Indigo brand, from the IHG portfolio, which also includes the Intercontinental brand. It is the first hotel under an international chain to be announced in a wine-growing area in Romania. The hotel will be called Indigo Valleverde and will have 54 rooms and facilities for meetings, private events and wine tastings, in the middle of a vineyard owned by the company that owns the hotel. But it’s not the Călina family’s first investment in the hotel industry. They also operate the Ramada Hotel & Suites by Wyndham Bucharest North and Holiday Inn Times, both in Bucharest. This year, the entrepreneurs also opened the first Crowne Plaza hotel outside Bucharest in Mamaia, which opened this summer. The 4-star hotel in Mamaia has 98 rooms, five meeting spaces and a banquet hall with a total capacity of 968 people. It also has a restaurant, two bars, a fitness room and a spa. By 2025, Crowne Plaza Mamaia Beach wants to focus on the corporate and events segment and aims to reach an average annual occupancy rate of over 60%.
