Tourism is one of the key priorities of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the forum dedicated to the actors of this industry, organized on September 27, 2024, was an opportunity to promote the tourism potential. The Medical Tourism Association of Moldova was designated as the tourism innovation of the year No.1. The Republic of Moldova aligned to the world medical tourism map in 2022. The Medical Tourism Association of Moldova was launched in Chisinau – an important step in the development and promotion of medical services in our country. The aim of founding the association is to encourage and facilitate the access of foreign patients to medical services provided in our country, as well as to facilitate the access of Moldovan citizens to quality medicine abroad. The Association is headed by Natalia Ciobanu – PhD, regional director of the Medical Tourism Board of Turkey. This summer, in Chisinau, the official ceremony was held in Chisinau for the Republic of Moldova, represented by the Medical Tourism Association, to take over the chairmanship of the Global Medical Tourism Council (GHTC). During the event, the Roadmap for the mandate 2024-2026 was presented and activities were highlighted that aim to develop the field of medical tourism in the medium and long term, as well as to promote medical services, professionals and the image of our country internationally. This is all you need to conquer the world and attract many medical tourists to the country. Turkey, for example, today receives patients from 189 countries. And the annual revenue from medical tourism for the country’s economy amounts to €2bn. The state authorities welcome the progress made by the Moldovan Medical Tourism Association since its foundation and appreciate the determination of the team and its members to strengthen Moldova’s position on the global medical tourism map. Institutional partners of the project are the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Culture, National Tourism Office, Chisinau City Hall, ANTRIM, Moldovan Investment Agency, AmCham Moldova, USMF “Nicolae Testemitanu”, with strategic partners: U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Moldova – through the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Project (RCRA) and Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund.
