An investment of over EUR 5 million will take the name of Făgăraș to the national level, but also abroad. It is the Hotel ibis Styles Făgăraș Citadel, the investment of Virgil Mardale from Făgăraș through Leader D.G.S. Construct S. R. L. This company will transform the old apartment block building on Negoiu Street no.5 into a modern hotel. The project will fill the existing gap in Făgăraș in terms of accommodation. What’s more, the hotel joins the international Accor network, a world leader in the hospitality industry. Work is currently underway on the building, with the owner hoping to have the hotel in operation by the end of this year or next spring at the latest.
The ibis Styles Făgăraș Citadel hotel will have 68 rooms, including family rooms and rooms for guests with disabilities, a social hub on the ground floor, a reception area, a breakfast buffet, a presentation area for snacks, as well as a multifunctional relaxation area, restaurant and terrace. Guests will also benefit from an outdoor parking lot and a conference room,” explains Virgil Mardale, the hotel’s owner.
The story of this building began years ago. It was a social housing block managed by Făgăraș City Hall. It had reached an advanced state of decay, the rooms were unhealthy and unsafe for the tenants. So the tenants, tenants of Făgăraș City Hall, were evicted and moved to other premises. The building as a whole posed a real danger to residents in the area. Virgil Mardare’s company bought the building with the intention of turning it into a hotel, as the city was short of accommodation. The project was implemented last year, after legal permits and building authorization were obtained.
Last summer, Leader D.G.S. Construct S. R. L managed to sign a franchise agreement with Accor, a world leader in the hospitality industry, to open a new ibis Styles hotel in Făgăraș. The hotel in Făgăraș will be the first hotel affiliated to an international chain.
