The City Grill restaurant group is expanding in Transylvania through a partnership with the Marty restaurant group, with City Grill to hold the majority stake. The City Grill restaurant group, controlled by Dragoș Petrescu, takes over the majority stake of the Marty restaurant chain, launched by Marcelus Suciu in 1999 in Cluj, and accelerates its expansion on the Transylvanian market. As part of the partnership between the two groups, the founders of Marty Restaurants continue to manage the operations of six restaurants in Cluj Napoca. Marty Pan, the owner of the Marty Restaurants brand, ended 2023 with revenues of RON18.6 million and a net profit of RON6.4 million, according to data from the Ministry of Finance. Founded in 2004, the City Grill Group currently operates restaurants and cafes under the brands Pescăruș, Hanul Berarilor, Buongiorno.Italian, City Grill, Caru’ Cu Bere, Hanu’ lui Manuc and La Boheme, the first hotel in its portfolio. The group expects business of €65m by the end of the year, up 18% on 2023.
