ALBA Destination Management Organization is established

Corina Martin, the main promoter at national level for the establishment of destination management organizations in cities, resorts and tourist regions in Romania, held a meeting with the Mayor of Alba Iulia, Gabriel Pleșa and Robert Roman, Director of the Cultural Center Palatul Principilor, together with the Alba HORECA Employers’ Association, to explain the arguments, model and procedures for initiating the process of setting up a local DMO – an essential step to increase the city’s competitiveness as a tourist destination.

“In my 18 years of experience in setting up and consolidating public-private partnership organizations in Romanian tourism, I have marked many local and county organizations in which I managed to bring together the local tourism industry with local and county administrations. Tour operators from Alba Iulia or Sinaia or Mamaia no longer have to wait for the state to come from a ministry in Bucharest to decide or invest in the development and promotion of their destination. It will never happen, except by setting up their own local and county associations (OMD) per destination. “Corina Martin, Vice-President and Secretary General of FPIOR
