International hotel chain Marriott will expand its local portfolio with seven more hotels in the coming years, in the cities of Timisoara, Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, Călimănești and Arad. There are six hotels under one of the Marriott brands in Romania, five in Bucharest and one in Cluj-Napoca.
“In the next few years, we plan to open seven hotels in Timisoara, Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, Brasov, Călimănești and Arad, representing some of our most recognized brands, such as Courtyard by Marriott, Moxy and AC Hotels. We are not stopping here. Our future plans include expanding our presence in the Poiana Brașov ski area, on the Romanian Black Sea coast, as well as in key regional cities such as Iași, Constanța, Craiova, Suceava, Oradea and Galați,” Ivan Kiseev, senior director, International Hotel Development CEE & CIS, Marriott International, tells Ziarul Financiar.
The most in-demand brands are in the medium category, but more and more local investors are interested in luxury brands, such as the Ritz-Carlton, which has just a handful of hotels in Europe, in countries such as Austria, Germany, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland.
