Hotel Indigo Satu Mare will be launched in 2026

The hotel group InterContinental is entering Romania this year with the Hotel Indigo brand, which will be used to operate the Dacia Hotel in Satu Mare, inaugurated in 1902.

The hotel came into the ownership of a Hungarian company based in Budapest in 2018, when, according to public statements made at the time by the director of the Satu Mare Culture Department, the Romanian state did not want to exercise a right of pre-emption due to the high costs imposed by the renovation of the building. The refurbished hotel will have 62 rooms.

Hotel Indigo, one of InterContinental’s 19 brands, is a global boutique brand designed to reflect the local culture, character and geography of the surrounding area. At the moment, there are only 143 Indigo hotels open across the globe, but the plan is to open another 127 Indigo hotels in the next 3-5 years.

Hotel Indigo Satu Mare will be launched in 2026 under a franchise agreement and will be managed by Hungarian operator Hotel & More.

The agreement was signed with Dacia SRL, a subsidiary of the Hungarian company Manevi ZRT.

On the local market, the InterContinental group has just launched a hotel under the Crowne Plaza brand – Crowne Plaza Constanta Mamaia Beach – and offers affiliation to three other properties: the Intercontinental Athénée Palace Bucharest, Crowne Plaza Bucharest and Holiday Inn Bucharest-Times.
