Massive investment for tourism in West Region

The West Region is preparing for an extensive development of tourism with funds of over EUR 65 million, allocated through the West Regional Program 2021-2027, under the intervention “Tourism and Quality of Life”. The West Regional Development Agency (RDA) has launched the pre-selection process for projects that will modernize and diversify the tourism infrastructure in resorts of national and local interest. Local public authorities in urban and rural tourist resorts will be able to propose projects aimed at:

  • Development of natural tourist attractions;
  • Developing public parks and gardens;
  • Create trails for recreation, sports or adventure activities;
  • Construction of mountain refuges, life-saving stations, sports and health resorts;
  • Developing infrastructure for spas, winter and summer sports, cultural spaces or amusement parks.

All projects will have to comply with the conditions detailed in the applicant’s guide, available with the official launch of the call. Hunedoara County has been allocated EUR 13.44 million. The pre-selection process started on December 16, 2024 and ends on January 31, 2025. West RDA encourages local public authorities to submit their project fiches within the deadline in order to access these essential financial resources. This funding offers significant opportunities for tourist resorts in the West Region, helping to attract tourists and increase the quality of tourist services. By modernizing infrastructure and diversifying leisure options, the West Region can become a competitive attraction both domestically and internationally. The list of attested tourist resorts of national and local interest, according to HG no. 852/2008 for the approval of the rules and criteria for the attestation of tourist resorts can be found at this LINK.
