The move is part of an aggressive national expansion strategy targeting the proximity and affordability segment, with the group aiming to develop a network of around 100 fitness clubs over the next five to six years.

Fit4U currently operates five clubs across major neighborhoods in Oradea, including a recently opened facility in Industrial Park 1, with three more locations scheduled to launch in 2027. Fit4U founder Daniel Bolba, who has built the business over the past 15 years, will remain with the company and take on the role of regional director within Urban Fitness. The transaction, legally advised by law firm Filip & Company, follows other recent fitness acquisitions by Mozaik, namely City Gym, Urban Fitness & Gym, and No1 Fitness.

Mozaik’s strategy combines acquisitions with greenfield club openings, with the Urban Fitness project focusing on formats between 700 and 1,500 square meters and a fully digitalized, contactless ecosystem. The company expects to reach approximately 25 clubs by the end of this year and around 50 locations by the end of 2027. The initiative is underpinned by the gap in the local market: in Romania, the fitness market penetration rate stands at roughly 5%, compared to the European average of 15–20%. The project is headed by Dan Fărcășanu, Managing Partner at Mozaik Investments, who previously led the regional fund investment in World Class Romania between 2014 and 2022.

Founded in 2019 by Roland Haas, Sacha Dragic, and Vlad Bușilă, Mozaik Investments has offices in Bucharest and Vienna and typically makes investments of EUR 5 to 8 million per transaction, with an investment horizon of three to seven years. The fund’s portfolio includes stakes in private school Genesis, coffee chain 5 To Go, Flavours / Stradale group, and fintech company Pago. In 2023, Mozaik’s second fund was approved for a EUR 25 million investment from the Resilience Fund of Funds under the NRRP, managed by the European Investment Fund.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of Mozaik’s acquisition of Fit4U?

Mozaik Investments acquired Fit4U to strengthen its Urban Fitness platform and drive an aggressive national expansion targeting approximately 100 fitness clubs over the next five to six years.

What role will Fit4U founder Daniel Bolba have following the transaction?

Daniel Bolba, who founded Fit4U 15 years ago, will remain with the company and assume the position of regional director within Urban Fitness.

What are the key features of the Urban Fitness concept?

The Urban Fitness concept focuses on proximity and accessibility, with club formats ranging between 700 and 1,500 square meters and a fully digitalized, contactless ecosystem.

Mozaik Investments, through project company M-Ventures, has signed an agreement to acquire Fit4U, the largest fitness operator in Oradea, thereby consolidating its Urban Fitness platform.
