Baltic group PLG has signed an agreement for the full acquisition of the Romanian ticketing platform iaBilet from private equity fund Resource Partners and the company’s founders. The transaction marks Resource Partners’ exit from the shareholding just eight months after acquiring the majority stake of 82.5%, consolidating PLG’s position in the Central and Eastern European market.<\/p>\n
The agreement, signed on May 20, is set to be finalized after receiving regulatory approvals. Founders Emil Ionescu and R\u0103zvan Manta sold their entire stakes to PLG Romania, but will remain involved in the company’s development and on the Board of Directors. In addition, the executive team consisting of Emil Ionescu (CEO), R\u0103zvan Manta (COO), and Daniel Cute-Petric (CTO) will continue to lead operations and contribute to the integration into the group.<\/p>\n
The acquisition is part of PLG’s strategy to expand its regional ticketing infrastructure and invest in artificial intelligence solutions for a shared technological ecosystem. Sven Nuutmann, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of PLG, highlighted that the average ticket price in the region is about two times lower than in Western and Southern Europe, with the market offering solid long-term growth potential.<\/p>\n
The PLG group currently operates in seven regional markets (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Romania) and is controlled by Angel Rose Capital alongside BaltCap and Tristafan. Former majority shareholder Resource Partners has invested over EUR 500 million since its founding in 2009 and noted that Romania remains a priority market for future transactions.<\/p>\n
