The Timi\u0219 County Council, the S\u00e2nnicolau Mare City Hall, and ADR Vest have launched an approximately EUR 40 million project for the construction of the first public-funded aquapark in the Banat region. The investment leverages local geothermal water resources and aims to create a new tourist attraction hub in western Romania, capable of competing with similar resorts in Hungary.<\/p>\n
The project will span an area of approximately four hectares, with the possibility of expansion, and represents the first leisure infrastructure partnership concluded between the Timi\u0219 County Council and the S\u00e2nnicolau Mare City Hall. Alfred Simonis, President of the Timi\u0219 County Council, stated that the locality was selected due to its valuable geothermal water resources and a mature technical project prepared by the local administration for funding and execution. The strategic objective is to retain domestic tourists who traditionally visited the thermal baths in Mako or Szeged, and to attract visitors from Hungary as well.<\/p>\n
In turn, the Mayor of S\u00e2nnicolau Mare, D\u0103nu\u021b Groza, emphasized that the new aquapark is designed to boost weekend tourism across the entire region, marking a new stage of development following the completion of investments in basic infrastructure, such as roads, schools, and hospitals.<\/p>\n
From a technical standpoint, the complex will be equipped for year-round use. The thermal pool will feature a glass panel enclosure system, operating open-air in the summer and enclosed in the winter. Facilities will include an indoor pool with direct outdoor access, shallow pools and water attractions for children, three outdoor jacuzzi areas, indoor and outdoor slides, a spa area, and a restaurant.<\/p>\n
