The new document replaces the 2022 bilateral agreement and expands cooperation from a single road bridge to a complex logistical network aimed at accelerating regional connectivity with the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>The document was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Bolea, and the interim Minister of Transport of Romania, Radu-Dinel Miru\u021b\u0103. The update of the agreement aims to implement coordinated border control, expand European funding, and integrate into the project the last section of the A8 Highway (T\u00e2rgu Mure\u0219 \u2013 Ia\u0219i \u2013 Ungheni), the first sector of the future Ungheni \u2013 Chi\u0219in\u0103u \u2013 Odesa highway, as well as the Bere\u0219ti multimodal logistics terminal.<\/p>\n<p>The investments will be shared between the two states. Romania will finance the construction of the bridge over the Prut River, the customs point on its territory, a highway section of about 4.7 km, the 1.1 km connection road to the Bere\u0219ti complex, and the development of this terminal. The total value of the investments undertaken by the Romanian side is estimated at approximately EUR 56 million, with funding secured including through the European SAFE instrument. Republic of Moldova will allocate about EUR 5 million for the execution of a 0.5 km highway sector that will connect the bridge abutment to the R16 national road.<\/p>\n<p>During the same event, which was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana \u021aoiu, and State Secretaries Ionel Scri\u0219oreanu and Hora\u021biu Cosma, the contract for the design and execution of the T\u00e2rgu Neam\u021b \u2013 Ia\u0219i \u2013 Ungheni highway section was signed, which ensures the connection with the new bridge over the Prut River.
