While the Comarnic Bypass is scheduled to be completed this summer, the updated documentation for the Azuga-Bușteni bypass, a project valued at over EUR 160.96 million, was recently approved.

The Comarnic Bypass is nearing commissioning, with authorities estimating the completion of works around August, although the initial contractual deadline was set for June. This targeted measure is part of a phased approach strategy for the crossing between Ploiești and Brașov, aimed at reducing traffic pressure until the highway is built, a topic also debated during the Profit.ro Marathon “Infrastructure that Connects Romania”, according to statements by Robert Răzvan Dobre, director at the Ministry of Transport.

In parallel, the bypass project for the Azuga and Bușteni resorts has made progress with the approval of the updated technical documentation by the Ministry of Development, Public Works, and Administration. Supported by the President of the Prahova County Council, Virgiliu Daniel Nanu, the project is carried out in partnership with CNAIR and aims to discharge traffic from the A3 Highway. The total investment amounts to EUR 160.96 million, of which construction and assembly works are estimated at EUR 132.58 million.

The route of the new Azuga-Bușteni bypass has a length of 9.447 kilometers and a road platform width of 9.50–10 meters. The works, with an estimated execution duration of 30 months, include the construction of 19 structures (bridges, passages, viaducts, and underpasses), 13 level intersections, and a rainwater drainage system of 7,725.44 meters. The Prahova County Council confirmed that the expropriations have been completed, the corresponding corridor is approved, and the building permits are issued in 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will the Comarnic Bypass be completed?

The Comarnic Bypass is expected to be completed around August, slightly after its initial June contractual deadline.

How much does the Azuga-Bușteni bypass project cost?

The total investment for the Azuga-Bușteni bypass is valued at over EUR 160.96 million, with construction and assembly works estimated at EUR 132.58 million.

What is the length and duration of the Azuga-Bușteni bypass project?

The bypass will be 9.447 kilometers long, and the construction works are estimated to take 30 months.

The Ministry of Transport and the Prahova county authorities are accelerating infrastructure projects aimed at easing traffic congestion in the Prahova Valley, as the Comarnic–Brașov highway remains in the study phase.
