The Republic of Moldova is hosting the “Jos\u00e9 Antonio Vi\u00f1as” Caravan for the first time from May 7\u201310, a major international cultural event held under the auspices of the World Folklore Union (I.G.F.). The event marks a significant step in the country’s integration into the global cultural circuit, bringing together delegates and artists from nine states to promote authentic traditions and intercultural dialogue.<\/p>\n
According to the MOLDPRES report, the program brings together approximately 30 delegates from Austria, France, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Romania, Spain, Turkey, and Ukraine. Beyond the artistic dimension, the event includes actions with institutional and diplomatic impact, such as the inauguration of the I.G.F. representative office in the municipality of Ungheni and the signing of a twinning agreement between Ungheni and the city of Izmit in Turkey. The official agenda is completed by discussions at the Ministry of Culture and meetings at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History.<\/p>\n
The current edition, dedicated to the memory of Spanish artist Jos\u00e9 Antonio Vi\u00f1as, is implemented by the “Centrul Artelor Perene” NGO, being initiated by Dorel Cosma with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Ungheni City Hall. The Republic of Moldova joined the World Folklore Union in November 2023, taking over the organization of the caravan after the previous edition held in Israel. The highlight of the events will be the Caravan Gala, which will take place in the Twinning Square in Ungheni.<\/p>\n
