Foreigners visiting Bucharest generally leave with a better impression than they had upon arrival.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Foreign tourists arriving in Bucharest are dissatisfied with the lack of a pedestrian information system with maps, especially in the Old Town area, and the absence of a pre-promoted event calendar that includes museum schedules and cultural performances. Another cause for dissatisfaction among foreigners is the taxi situation in the city, both the transfer from Otopeni and potential rides through the city, especially at night, as tourists consider them a risk and stress factor. Another issue is the lack of parking in the city center for tourist coaches.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Association for the Promotion and Development of Tourism in Bucharest was established in July 2014 through the association of nine founding members: ANAT, representing travel agencies; FIHR, one of the associations representing hotels in Bucharest; HORA &#8211; the representative of restaurants in the capital; SKAL, which brings together tourism specialists; the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry; the Bucharest Airports Company; UNTRR, as a representative of transporters; Tarom; and the Bucharest City Hall.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The initial budget was represented by each member&#8217;s contribution, namely EUR 1,500. The immediate next step was the approval in the council meeting at the end of November of an amount of RON 500,000 per month, the contribution of the Bucharest City Hall to the association for the promotion of the city.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Calin Ile specified that, in the future, the main source of funding should be the stay tax, that city tax collected from tourists and paid into local budgets.
