In the following year, Egypt was visited by 11.5 million tourists, but the number fell again to approximately 10 million last year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Ambassador specified that this year, approximately 11 million tourists were recorded in Egypt, an increase of 70% compared to last year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Five years ago, tourism represented 11-12% of the country&#8217;s Gross Domestic Product.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In turn, travel agencies are relaunching operations in Egypt. Charters to holiday destinations in Egypt had been stopped in 2011.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Marius Pandel, CEO of Christian Tour, stated that starting in August, the agency is relaunching charters to Egypt, with two charters per week.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Given the developments in the security situation in Egypt and neighboring states, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Romanian citizens avoid unnecessary travel to certain areas and cities in the country, namely Ismailia, Suez, El Arish, and Rafah.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Additionally, the ministry recommends avoiding individual travel to Egypt in Taba, Saint Catherine&#8217;s Monastery, and any other localities in North Sinai.
