The owner of the Eurolines group, Dragos Anastasiu, acquired in December 2015, through one of his companies, 23% of TransCarp, the company that owns the Valea Verde resort in the village of Cund, near Sighi\u0219oara. Another 7% of the complex was acquired by the owner of an architecture firm, a close associate of Anastasiu.<\/div>\n

Dragos Anastasiu also owns 50% of Green Village in the Danube Delta, where, along with the shares, he also took over the management of the complex. <\/div>\n

Chef Jonas Schaefer and his wife, Ulrike Schaefer, German citizens from the Hamburg area, founded the complex 10 years ago when they decided to settle in Romania. They invested in Valea Verde at that time, in 18 apartments and 4 holiday homes restored in a village with Saxon-style houses, as well as in a restaurant, a conference room, and an organic swimming lake.<\/div>\n

Anastasiu specified that Jonas Schaefer and Eurolines aim to invest several million euros in the coming years to develop the resort. The investments mainly target the accommodation capacity in the village (restored Saxon houses).<\/div>\n

This year, the complex will be expanded with at least two new apartments and, as the owners find houses at “decent prices,” they will buy and restore them.<\/div>\n

“We want to build an eco-chalet with 30 rooms, a spa, and a restaurant, in the same valley, 500 m away. The project will require investments of 2-3 million EUR,” stated Dragos Anastasiu, who says he also wants to develop a cooking school in the area and is counting on European funds for all these investments.<\/div>\n

Developed in Cund, 30 km from Sighi\u0219oara and 28 km from T\u00e2rgu Mure\u0219 airport, the resort attracted Romanians and foreigners equally last year, the latter coming mainly from Germany, Austria, and the UK.<\/div>\n

In 2014, Valea Verde had a turnover of over 200,000 EUR, and with Eurolines entering the shareholding, Anastasiu estimates that Valea Verde can double its revenues this year, and after the opening of the eco-chalet, it will exceed 1 million EUR.<\/div>\n

In 2015, Anastasiu announced that he wanted to get involved in the hotel industry on three levels: owned locations, stakes in exceptional locations alongside entrepreneurs who retain management, and locations taken under management, establishing the company The Makers for this purpose with several partners.<\/div>\n
