Arrivals recorded in tourist reception structures in January 2016 totaled 581.3 thousand, an increase of 16.6% compared to January 2015. Of these, 78.7% represented arrivals of Romanian tourists and 21.3% represented arrivals of foreign tourists.<\/div>\n

Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe – 74.9% of the total foreign tourists, and of these, 76% were from countries belonging to the European Union.<\/div>\n

Overnight stays recorded in tourist reception structures in January of this year totaled 1,145.2 thousand, an increase of 15.9% compared to January 2015. Of these, 76.7% represented overnight stays of Romanian tourists and 23.3% were overnight stays of foreign tourists.<\/div>\n

Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, recorded at border points, were 541.7 thousand in January 2016, an increase of 0.7% compared to January 2015. The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe – 94.1%. Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 53% come from European Union states. Among the European Union states, the most arrivals were recorded from Bulgaria – 30.5%, Hungary – 29.6%, Italy – 8.5%, Germany – 6.1%, Poland – 5.1%, and Austria – 2.2%.<\/div>\n
