The city of Brasov will have a new mall, under the AFI brand, located in the center on the Hidromecanica platform. Following the completion of the land acquisition procedure, AFI Europe Romania has begun discussions with major retailers to establish the anchor hypermarket for the shopping center. According to market voices, the chosen partner will be Carrefour Romania.<\/div>\n

In the summer of 2015, the company owning Cora hypermarkets sold a 4-hectare plot of land in central Brasov to AFI Europe Romania. Although the operator Cora planned to build a real estate complex there, it decided to sell it to AFI Europe Romania, which is set to develop a mixed-use project including the AFI Palace Brasov shopping center and the AFI Park Brasov Class A office project.<\/div>\n

The Israeli group announced that the transaction has been finalized and that it is already in advanced discussions with several retail chains to serve as the anchor hypermarket for the mall planned for delivery towards the end of 2017. According to market sources, Carrefour Romania will be the retailer to inaugurate a hypermarket on the ground floor of the shopping center.<\/div>\n

We have finalized the land acquisition and are currently conducting negotiations for the hypermarket space with the main chains in Romania. We expect to be able to announce our new partner in the coming weeks. Now we are focusing on establishing the perfect mix of shopping and fun to offer a complete experience to both Brasov residents and tourists visiting the city. The high interest from retailers for this project makes us confident that it will be one of the most interesting shopping centers in the region and the leading mall in the city,” stated David Hay, CEO of AFI Europe Romania.<\/div>\n

The 45,000 sqm shopping center, which will be developed in Brasov’s business center (Civic Center), will be laid out over two levels, emphasizing shopping and leisure and entertainment options. A unique feature is the large terrace overlooking the Carpathian Mountains, which visitors will be able to enjoy and which will host various events and activities for families and tourists. The project will be built according to the standards required to obtain the LEED Gold „green” building certification.<\/div>\n
