On May 26, the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest adopted the organization and functioning regulations for the Old Town. <\/div>\n

According to these, music and live performances will be prohibited after 10:00 PM on seasonal terraces in the Old Town, and furniture must be made of wood, wicker, or metal, excluding plastic or garish colors. Terraces will only be authorized on sidewalks with a minimum width of 2 m, with the obligation to reserve a free space for pedestrian traffic with a minimum width of 1.50 m.<\/div>\n

The regulation stipulates that, in protected areas and within the perimeter of the Bucharest Historical Center, economic operators may carry out public catering activities on seasonal terraces only on sites approved by the General Directorate of Urban Development \u2013 Urbanism Directorate. Sites are allocated without public auction, in the chronological order of requests, and during approval, it will be ensured as much as possible that neighboring seasonal terraces have equal widths.<\/div>\n

On streets without sidewalks, the placement of seasonal terraces is authorized only on the condition of maintaining a continuous free traffic zone with a minimum width of 4 m in the middle of the street for emergency interventions. If the configuration of the street without sidewalks does not allow such an arrangement, the authorization of seasonal terraces is prohibited.<\/div>\n

To receive approval, several conditions must be met: the place of business must have restrooms for customers, properly equipped and partitioned by gender, be equipped with its own lighting system, ensure conditions regarding operational safety and furniture stability, and ensure conditions regarding the stability and safety of the building facades in front of which the terraces are set up.<\/div>\n

Furthermore, the document prohibits the use of plastic planters and artificial decorative plants in the Historical Center, as well as the use of plastic carpets.<\/div>\n

Also, in protected areas and within the perimeter of the Historical Center, the outdoor preparation of any food products is prohibited, except for stands set up during short-term cultural events, fairs, or exhibitions, which include culinary demonstrations, where organizers will take all measures regarding compliance with hygiene and public health norms.<\/div>\n

Economic operators who own terraces located in the Historical Center within the perimeter delimited by Regina Elisabeta Blvd. to the North, I.C. Br\u0103tianu Blvd. to the East, Splaiul Independen\u021bei to the South, and Calea Victoriei to the West, are obliged to have the furniture cleared by 4:00 AM to allow for sanitation services. The organization of private festive events will be prohibited on seasonal terraces, and music and live performances will end at 10:00 PM.<\/div>\n

Non-compliance with the provisions will be sanctioned according to the normative acts in force and will lead to the withdrawal of the site permit and the restoration of the land to its original state by order of the General Mayor and at the expense of the economic operator.<\/div>\n
