This was due to the cancellation or delay of certain flights, which generated unplanned penalties and reduced revenues, as well as the poor performance of the executive management in the first three months of the year, the company announced.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The revenue and expenditure budget had projected a loss of 3.4 million RON for the first half of this year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Currently, Tarom&#8217;s new management team and the board of directors have initiated the necessary procedures for fleet modernization, operational efficiency, service improvement, opening new routes, and shaping a new marketing strategy to attract more passengers, Tarom representatives stated.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The company is confident that, by the end of 2016, the level of losses will not exceed the amount stipulated in the government-approved budget, namely 6.9 million RON.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Tarom has a fleet of 23 aircraft consisting of three different brands\u2014Airbus, ATR, and Boeing\u2014with an average age of over 15 years. The average load factor for Tarom aircraft was approximately 68% last year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>On August 4, Tarom&#8217;s Board of Directors appointed a new general manager, Dan Iulius Plaveti, former president of the National Regulatory Authority for Energy. He will hold the position temporarily until the selection procedures for a general manager are completed.
