Of these, 81.3% represented arrivals of Romanian tourists and 18.7% represented arrivals of foreign tourists.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe &#8211; 75.2% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 86.7% were from European Union countries.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Overnight stays registered in tourist reception structures in August of this year totaled 4,370.9 thousand, an increase of 9.7% compared to those in August 2015. Higher occupancy rates in August 2016 were recorded in hotels &#8211; 57.8%, accommodation on ships &#8211; 51.2%, tourist villas &#8211; 43.3%, tourist stops &#8211; 39.3%, student and preschool camps &#8211; 38.9%, bungalows &#8211; 38.1%, hostels &#8211; 35.2%, and tourist cabins &#8211; 33.3%.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at border points, were 1,270.8 thousand in August 2016. The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe &#8211; 93%. Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 49.8% come from European Union states. Among the European Union states, the most arrivals were recorded from Hungary &#8211; 28.2%, Bulgaria &#8211; 23.8%, Germany &#8211; 10.4%, Italy &#8211; 7.2%, Poland &#8211; 6.9%, and France &#8211; 3.6%.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at border points, were 1,886 thousand in August 2016, an increase of 20.4% compared to August 2015. Road transport means were the most used for departures abroad, representing 72.1% of the total number of departures.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Arrivals registered in tourist reception structures in the period January &#8211; August 2016 totaled 7,466.3 thousand, an increase of 11% compared to those in the same period of 2015. Higher occupancy rates were recorded in hotels &#8211; 39.7%, accommodation on ships &#8211; 26.1%, tourist villas and tourist cabins &#8211; 25.4% each, and hostels &#8211; 20.3%.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The most arrivals of foreign tourists accommodated in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions came from Germany &#8211; 184.4 thousand, Israel &#8211; 168.2 thousand, Italy &#8211; 155.5 thousand, France &#8211; 96.7 thousand, and the United Kingdom &#8211; 94.3 thousand.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at border points, were 6,992.1 thousand in the period January &#8211; August, an increase of 10.1% compared to the same period in 2015.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe &#8211; 93.1%. Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 54.1% come from European Union states.
