Among these sites, the most photographed is the Christ the Redeemer statue, which guards Corcovado Mountain.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>At the mountain peak, the statue has been exposed to rain, wind, and sun. Around 1.5 million USD is spent annually on its maintenance.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The announcement of the urban landscape&#8217;s inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage list was made as early as 2012, but it became official only after Brazilian authorities prepared a detailed report on the protection plans for Flamengo Park, Sugarloaf and Corcovado Mountains, Copacabana Beach, the Botanical Garden, and the Tijuca Forest.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>On December 1, UNESCO included the traditional wall-carpet craftsmanship techniques in Romania and the Republic of Moldova in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
