Of these, over 46,000 were foreign tourists, 10% more than in 2015.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In Baile Tusnad, Harghita County, the smallest town in Romania, there were a total of 37,610 tourists last year, of which 5,309 were foreigners, double the number recorded in 2015.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Also, Baile Olanesti recorded a significant increase in foreign tourists, from 149 foreign tourists in 2015 to 1,227 tourists in 2016.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Nicu Radulescu, president of the Organization of Spa Employers in Romania, OPTBR, stated that this increase in foreign tourists is also due to the fact that investments have been made in accommodation capacity in recent years.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In Romania&#8217;s spa resorts, there are only two 5-star hotels, 13 4-star hotels, 54 3-star hotels, and 55 2-star hotels.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>For the most part, spa tourism in Romania is supported by the state through treatment tickets granted to the elderly.
