In the first four months of this year, Romanians bought stays with holiday vouchers worth EUR 3.8 million, representing more than a third of the amount recorded for the entire last year, which was EUR 10 million.<\/div>\n

The amount is far from the market’s potential, due to the fact that vouchers are frequently granted only in the private sector.<\/div>\n

"There is a possibility that this year the amount recorded last year at the national level will be exceeded, thanks to the private sector. Unfortunately, the failure of the government program, even with the approval of Emergency Ordinance 46, through which holiday vouchers are also granted to public sector employees\u2014a pale palliative of campaign promises\u2014will result in us recording sales on holiday vouchers of at most EUR 15 million this year, only in the private sector, with the state sector likely not being viable this year," says Alin Burcea, president of the National Association of Travel Agencies, ANAT.<\/div>\n

A large part of the over 419,000 vouchers settled in the first months of the year were used to purchase stays on the coast for the 2017 season.<\/div>\n
