Of these, 80.1% represented arrivals of Romanian tourists in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions, while 19.9% represented arrivals of foreign tourists.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe &#8211; 73.9% of the total foreign tourists, and of these, 88.1% were from European Union countries.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Overnight stays registered in tourist reception structures in August 2017 totaled 4,537 thousand, an increase of 3.8% compared to August 2016. The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe &#8211; 89.1%.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 48.6% come from European Union states. Among the European Union states, the most arrivals were recorded from Bulgaria &#8211; 22.7%, Hungary &#8211; 20.8%, Germany &#8211; 11%, Italy &#8211; 9.3%, Poland &#8211; 6.4%, and France &#8211; 5.2%.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at border points, were 2,535 thousand in August 2017, an increase of 34.4% compared to August 2016. Road transport means were the most used for departures abroad, representing 74.7% of the total number of departures.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Arrivals registered in tourist reception structures in the period January \u2013 August 2017 totaled 8,301.8 thousand, an increase of 11.2% compared to those in the first eight months of 2016. Higher occupancy rates in the analyzed period were recorded in hotels &#8211; 40%, tourist villas &#8211; 27.2%, bungalows &#8211; 26.3%, and tourist stops &#8211; 26%.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The most arrivals of foreign tourists accommodated in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions came from Germany &#8211; 221.7 thousand, Israel &#8211; 193.7 thousand, Italy &#8211; 162.2 thousand, France &#8211; 112 thousand, and Hungary &#8211; 107.5 thousand.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at border points, were 8,614.8 thousand in the period January \u2013 August 2017, an increase of 23.2% compared to the same period in 2016.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe &#8211; 89.6%. Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 53.2% come from European Union states.
