However, in next year’s awards, there will be three distinct categories for our national cuisine.

Among Near-Eastern and North African cuisines, we only awarded Lebanese this year, which is much better represented in Bucharest than all the others combined. If we manage to develop an operational evaluation toolkit, on one hand, and if more restaurants with distinct specifics appear in this category, we will have separate awards next year.

We also did not create a distinct category for new fine creative cuisines, nouvelles cuisines, molecular, etc., because there are still few restaurants of this type in Bucharest. We hope they will reach a number this year that allows for the formation of a distinct group.

This year, the mechanisms for indexing, describing, and potentially evaluating other additional categories in the food & bar area (cafes, tea houses, breweries, terraces, confectioneries and bakeries, bohemian venues, etc.) will also be finalized, so the awards at the beginning of next year will undoubtedly include many of these as well.

The awards were presented to the winners during a ceremony held at Locanta Jaristea, Friday, February 2, 2016, an event funded by Domeniile Bogdan, Restocracy’s partner.

George Butunoiu
founder and lead evaluator of Restocracy

Restocracy Awards for the best restaurants in Bucharest in 2017:

Restaurant of the Year 2017 in Bucharest –
