They spent approximately EUR 37 million, an 11% increase compared to the previous New Year&#8217;s Eve.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>58,000 tourists preferred to spend New Year&#8217;s Eve at guesthouses, 5.5% more than last year. Due to consistent service packages, this segment recorded the longest stays, of up to 5 nights.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Over 28,000 Romanians chose to spend the winter holidays in spa resorts, a 3.4% decrease compared to last year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Likewise, a decrease was also recorded in mountain areas, where 36,000 people opted to spend their New Year&#8217;s holiday in the mountains, 5.5% less than last year.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Over 36,000 people chose to celebrate in hotels in Romania&#8217;s major cities, an increase of approximately 3% compared to the previous year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Increases were recorded in the Danube Delta and on the Coast, although the number of tourists in these destinations remains very small.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Regarding the rates charged during the holiday period, it is noted that they increased by an average of 5% compared to 2017. Thus, Romanians spent over RON 172 million on New Year&#8217;s packages in the country, an 11% increase from the previous year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The most sought-after areas were Prahova Valley, Poiana Brasov, Paltinis, Ranca, Straja, Calimanesti, Felix, and traditional rural areas like Bran-Moieciu, Maramures, and Bucovina.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The number of those who spent the winter holidays abroad increased by approximately 8% compared to 2016, reaching about 11,000, with spending up 13% compared to last year.
