Arrivals and overnight stays in Romanian tourist accommodation structures increased in 2017<\/p>\n
Arrivals registered in tourist accommodation structures in December 2017 totaled 784.2 thousand, an increase of 10.5% compared to December 2016. Of these, 80% represented arrivals of Romanian tourists and 20% represented arrivals of foreign tourists.<\/p>\n
Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist accommodation structures, those from Europe held the largest share \u2013 68.9% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 81.5% were from European Union countries. <\/p>\n
Overnight stays registered in tourist accommodation structures in December 2017 totaled 1,590.3 thousand, an increase of 11.5% compared to December 2016. Of these, 80.3% represented overnight stays of Romanian tourists and 19.7% represented overnight stays of foreign tourists.<\/p>\n
Regarding the overnight stays of foreign tourists in tourist accommodation structures, those from Europe held the largest share \u2013 67.6% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 82.1% were from European Union countries.<\/p>\n
The average length of stay in December 2017 was 2 days for both Romanian and foreign tourists.<\/p>\n
The net occupancy rate of accommodation places in December 2017 was 24.3% for total tourist accommodation structures, an increase of 1.3% compared to December 2016. Higher occupancy rates were recorded in hotels \u2013 29.5%, tourist villas \u2013 19.9%, tourist boarding houses \u2013 19.6%, hostels \u2013 17.2%, and agritourism boarding houses \u2013 16.5%.<\/p>\n
Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, recorded at border points, were 933.5 thousand in December 2017, an increase of 26.7% compared to December 2016. The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe \u2013 90%.<\/p>\n
Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 53.4% come from European Union states, and among the EU states, the most arrivals were recorded from Bulgaria \u2013 26.1%, Hungary \u2013 23.2%, Italy \u2013 11.5%, Germany \u2013 8.3%, France \u2013 4.8%, and the United Kingdom \u2013 3.8%. <\/p>\n
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, recorded at border points, were 1,286.9 thousand in December 2017, an increase of 15.7% compared to December 2016. Road transport was the most used for departures abroad, representing 68.6% of the total number of departures.<\/p>\n
Arrivals registered in tourist accommodation structures in 2017 totaled 12,056.3 thousand, an increase of 10.4% compared to 2016. Of these, 77.2% represented arrivals of Romanian tourists and 22.8% represented arrivals of foreign tourists.<\/p>\n
Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist accommodation structures, those from Europe held the largest share \u2013 74.2% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 85.7% were from European Union countries.<\/p>\n
Overnight stays registered in tourist accommodation structures in 2017 totaled 26,915.7 thousand, an increase of 6.5% compared to 2016. Of these, 80.4% represented overnight stays of Romanian tourists and 19.6% represented overnight stays of foreign tourists.<\/p>\n
Regarding the overnight stays of foreign tourists in tourist accommodation structures, those from Europe held the largest share \u2013 72.9% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 84.8% were from European Union countries.<\/p>\n
The average length of stay in 2017 was 2.3 days for Romanian tourists and 1.9 days for foreign tourists. <\/p>\n
The net occupancy rate of accommodation places in 2017 was 31.2% for total tourist accommodation structures, an increase of 0.4% compared to 2016. Higher occupancy rates in 2017 were recorded in hotels \u2013 39.4%, tourist villas \u2013 25.9%, accommodation spaces on ships \u2013 24.6%, bungalows \u2013 22.7%, and tourist campsites \u2013 22.6%. <\/p>\n
The most arrivals of foreign tourists staying in tourist accommodation structures came from Germany \u2013 324.4 thousand, Israel \u2013 292.8 thousand, Italy \u2013 241.4 thousand, France \u2013 167.2 thousand, and the USA \u2013 157.2 thousand.<\/p>\n
Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, recorded at border points, were 12,706.1 thousand in 2017, an increase of 24.3% compared to 2016. The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe \u2013 89.5%.<\/p>\n
Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 53.2% come from European Union states, and among the EU states, the most arrivals were recorded from Bulgaria \u2013 24.7%, Hungary \u2013 21.8%, Italy \u2013 10.1%, Germany \u2013 9.1%, Poland and France \u2013 each with 5.1%, and the United Kingdom \u2013 4.8%.<\/p>\n
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, recorded at border points, were 19,939.7 thousand in 2017, an increase of 23.6% compared to 2016. Road transport was the most used for departures abroad, representing 69.3% of the total number of departures.<\/p>\n
