This is nearly 0.2 million EUR more than in 2017, when over 94,000 tourists traveled domestically for International Workers&#8217; Day.<\/p>\n<p>&bdquo;Based on our data, we can estimate revenues of approximately 12.7 million RON across all domestic tourist destinations from food and entertainment alone, given that a Romanian spent, on average, the same amount as last year\u2014120 RON\/day, excluding accommodation and breakfast. To this, we add approximately 17.4 million RON for accommodation and breakfast, leading to an estimated total expenditure of 30 million RON (approximately 6.4 million EUR) for Romanians who went on the May 1st mini-holiday in the country,&rdquo; said Drago\u0219 R\u0103ducan, Executive First Vice-President of FPTR.<\/p>\n<p>The most popular destination for the May 1st mini-holiday remained the Romanian seaside, where, according to data provided by hoteliers, about 28,000 tourists were accommodated.<\/p>\n<p>In the Mamaia resort, the occupancy rate of open hotels was approximately 90%, with 20,000 out of the 22,000 available spots sold. In Vama Veche, approximately 1,500 classified spots were available, and most likely another 1,000 unclassified spots.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding mountain areas, 19,000 Romanians booked a holiday, spending approximately 3.420 million RON on accommodation alone during their stay. The most sought-after mountain resorts were those in the Prahova Valley, Sinaia, and Bu\u0219teni.<\/p>\n<p>16,000 Romanians chose to go to spa resorts.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, city breaks were highly sought after during this period.
