Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe – 74.1% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 84.1% were from European Union countries. <\/p>\n
Overnight stays registered in tourist reception structures in March 2018 totaled 1423.3 thousand, an increase of 6% compared to March 2017. Of the total number of overnight stays, Romanian tourists represented 75.2%, while foreign tourists represented 24.8%.<\/p>\n
Regarding the overnight stays of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe – 73% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 83.1% were from European Union countries.<\/p>\n
The average length of stay in March 2018 was 1.9 days for both Romanian and foreign tourists. The net occupancy rate of accommodation places in March 2018 was 22.5% for total tourist accommodation structures, an increase of 1.2% compared to March 2017. Higher occupancy rates in March 2018 were recorded in hotels – 29.3%, hostels – 17.9%, tourist guesthouses – 15.2%, tourist villas – 14.2%, and motels – 13.2%.<\/p>\n
Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at border points, were 933 thousand in March 2018, an increase of 9.5% compared to March 2017. The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe – 90.3%. Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 56% come from European Union states. Among the European Union states, the most arrivals were recorded from Bulgaria and Hungary – 25% each, Italy – 10.1%, Germany – 8.5%, Poland and the United Kingdom – 4.4% each, and France – 4.3%.
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at border points, were 1368.2 thousand in March 2018, a decrease of 0.5% compared to March 2017. Road transport means were the most used for departures abroad, representing 65.7% of the total number of departures.<\/p>\n
Arrivals registered in tourist reception structures in the period January \u2013 March 2018 totaled 2189.6 thousand, an increase of 6.3% compared to the same period in 2017. Of these, Romanian tourist arrivals represent 78%, and foreign tourist arrivals represent 22%.<\/p>\n

Of these, Romanian tourist overnight stays represented 77.5%, while foreign tourist overnight stays represented 22.5%.<\/p>\n

Higher occupancy rates were recorded in hotels – 28.8%, hostels – 17.2%, tourist villas – 17%, tourist guesthouses – 16.9%, and tourist chalets – 13.3%.<\/p>\n
The most arrivals of foreign tourists staying in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions came from Israel – 52.9 thousand, Italy and Germany – 50.1 thousand each, France – 30.1 thousand, and the United Kingdom – 28.1 thousand.<\/p>\n
Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at border points, were 2481 thousand in the first three months of 2018, an increase of 13.2% compared to the same period in 2017. The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe – 90.7%. Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 53.8% come from European Union states. Among the European Union states, the most arrivals were recorded from Bulgaria – 26.7%, Hungary – 23.3%, Italy – 10.6%, Germany – 7.6%, France – 4.8%, and Poland – 4.6%.<\/p>\n
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at border points, were 4305.8 thousand in the analyzed period, an increase of 5.1% compared to the same period in 2017.<\/p>\n
