On May 16, the Government allocated 15 million RON for the expansion and modernization of the airport surface at Baia Mare International Airport, and 9.2 million RON for continuing investments and covering current and capital expenditures for the „Danube Delta” Airport in Tulcea.<\/p>\n

Baia Mare Airport has been closed since the end of 2015, when the institution’s management announced the cessation of all aircraft operations due to the start of works on the „Expansion and modernization of airport surfaces at Baia Mare International Airport” investment.<\/p>\n

The modernized takeoff-landing runway was to be 2,150 m long and 45 m wide, with taxiways and the boarding-disembarking platform also set to be modernized. Funding was provided 85% by the European Union, 13% by the Romanian Government, and 2% by the Maramure\u0219 County Council. The duration of the works was estimated at 5 months, but they have not been completed to date.<\/p>\n

Another 4 million RON were allocated for the development of the industrial platform in the city of Simeria, Hunedoara County. The amounts were requested by the local authorities of the three localities and will be provided from the Budgetary Reserve Fund at the Government’s disposal.
