Of these, Romanian tourist arrivals represented 74.8%, while foreign tourists represented 25.2%.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe &#8211; 73.6% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 85.2% were from countries belonging to the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Overnight stays registered in tourist reception structures in April 2018 totaled 1,605.7 thousand, an increase of 1.1% compared to those in April 2017. Of these, Romanian tourist overnight stays represented 75.4%, while foreign tourist overnight stays represented 24.6%.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the overnight stays of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe &#8211; 72.9% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 85.4% were from countries belonging to the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>The average length of stay in April was 1.9 days for both Romanian and foreign tourists. The net occupancy rate in April 2018 was 24.8% across all tourist accommodation structures, a decrease of 0.3% compared to April 2017. Higher occupancy rates in April 2018 were recorded in hotels &#8211; 31.7%, hostels &#8211; 19.7%, accommodation on ships &#8211; 18.3%, tourist villas &#8211; 17.8%, and tourist pensions &#8211; 17.2%.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign visitor arrivals in Romania, registered at border points, were 948.1 thousand in April 2018, a decrease of 7.9% compared to April 2017. The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe &#8211; 90.5%. Of the total foreign visitor arrivals in Romania, 53.7% come from European Union states, and among the EU states, the most arrivals were recorded from Bulgaria &#8211; 25.3%, Hungary &#8211; 23.8%, Italy &#8211; 9.8%, Germany &#8211; 8%, France &#8211; 5.4%, Poland &#8211; 4.9%, and the United Kingdom &#8211; 4.5%.<\/p>\n<p>Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at border points, were 1,713.8 thousand in April, an increase of 0.1% compared to April 2017. Road transport means were the most used for departures abroad, representing 67.6% of the total number of departures.<\/p>\n<p>Arrivals registered in tourist reception structures in the period January \u2013 April 2018 totaled 3,033.8 thousand, an increase of 5.7% compared to the same period in 2017. Of these, Romanian tourist arrivals represented 77.1%, and foreign tourists represented 22.9%.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe &#8211; 74.1% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 83.6% were from countries belonging to the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Overnight stays registered in tourist reception structures in the first four months of this year totaled 5,734.2 thousand, an increase of 4.8% compared to the same period in 2017.
