The total number of non-residents staying in collective tourist accommodation structures in the first quarter of 2018 was 480.3 thousand, and their total spending amounted to 1,130.1 million RON.<\/p>\n
The main reason for the stay spent by non-resident tourists in Romania was business, participation in congresses, conferences, courses, fairs, and exhibitions (63.4% of the total number of non-resident tourists), with their spending representing 63.1% of the total.<\/p>\n
The second reason for the stay spent by non-residents in Romania was private travel – 36.6% of the total number of non-resident tourists, with holiday travel standing out among these – 63.4%.<\/p>\n
Of the total business spending, the largest share is represented by accommodation costs – 52.5%, with accommodation including breakfast being preferred – 90.3%.<\/p>\n
Non-resident tourists’ spending in restaurants and bars was 17.3%, and shopping represented 12.7%. Car rental expenses accounted for 50.7% of total transport costs, and expenses for access to amusement parks, fairs, casinos, and mechanical game rooms represented 36.9% of total recreation spending.<\/p>\n
Of the total non-residents arriving in Romania, 52.3% organized their stay through travel agencies, while 30.8% organized their stay themselves.<\/p>\n
