The Minister of Waters and Forests, Ioan Dene\u0219, stated that a total area of 2.5 million square meters of beach, consisting of 11 lots located between Periboina and 2 Mai, will be made available to tourists through the implementation of a European project regarding the reduction of coastal erosion, worth approximately EUR 752 million, with a completion deadline in 2020.<\/p>\n

The project „Reduction of coastal erosion, phase II (2014-2020)” targets, in the first work stage, 5 lots at Periboina, Mamaia, Tomis (Casino), Agigea, and Eforie, and in the second stage, 6 lots at Costine\u0219ti, Olimp, Jupiter-Neptun, Balta Mangalia-Venus-Aurora, Mangalia-Saturn, and 2 Mai.<\/p>\n

In addition to beach nourishment, the project provides for the rehabilitation of weirs, cliff consolidation, and the construction of breakwaters in certain cases.<\/p>\n

According to the Minister of Waters and Forests, in the first stage of the project, works will begin in January of next year, and in the second stage, from September 2019.<\/p>\n

The EU financing contracts, for the amount of approximately EUR 752 million, will be signed in December 2018. The warranty period for the works will be 50 years.
