Of these, Romanian tourist arrivals represented 81.5%, while foreign tourists represented 18.5%.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe (70.3% of total foreign tourists), and of these, 82.7% were from European Union countries.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Overnight stays recorded in tourist reception structures in December 2018 totaled 1,641.0 thousand, an increase of 3.2% compared to December 2017. Of these, Romanian tourist overnight stays represented 81.7%, while foreign tourist overnight stays represented 18.3%.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Regarding the overnight stays of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe (69.3% of total foreign tourists), and of these, 82.9% were from European Union countries.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The average length of stay in December 2018 was 2 days for both Romanian and foreign tourists. Higher occupancy rates in December 2018 were recorded in hotels (30%), tourist villas (19.5%), tourist guesthouses (18.8%), agritourism guesthouses (17.8%), hostels (17%), and tourist chalets (16.5%).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, recorded at border points, were 846.2 thousand in December 2018, an increase of 5% compared to December 2017.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe (92.7%). Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 51.6% come from European Union states. Among the European Union states, the most arrivals were recorded from Bulgaria (30.6%), Hungary (26%), Italy (9.6%), Germany (7.7%), Poland and France (each with 3.9%), and the United Kingdom (3.1%).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, recorded at border points, were 1,308.8 thousand in December 2018, an increase of 1.6% compared to December 2017.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Road transport means were the most used for departures abroad, representing 65.7% of the total number of departures.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Arrivals recorded in tourist reception structures in 2018 totaled 12,809.9 thousand, an increase of 6.3% compared to 2017.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Of the total number of arrivals, Romanian tourist arrivals in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions represented 78.3%, while foreign tourists represented 21.7%.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe (74.3% of total foreign tourists), and of these, 85.5% were from European Union countries.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Overnight stays recorded in tourist reception structures in 2018 totaled 28,449.1 thousand, an increase of 5.7% compared to 2017. Of the total number of overnight stays, Romanian tourist overnight stays represented 81.4%, while foreign tourist overnight stays represented 18.6%.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Regarding the overnight stays of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe (73% of total foreign tourists), and of these, 84.3% were from European Union countries.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The average length of stay in the period January \u2013 December 2018 was 2.3 days for Romanian tourists and 1.9 days for foreign tourists. The net occupancy rate of accommodation places in the analyzed period was 32.4% for total tourist accommodation structures, an increase of 1.2% compared to 2017.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Higher occupancy rates were recorded in hotels (41.1%), bungalows (28.6%), tourist villas (26.1%), hostels (23.6%), accommodation spaces on ships (23.3%), tourist stops (21.6%), and tourist guesthouses (21.1%).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>By county, in 2018, the number of tourist arrivals in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions recorded higher values in the Municipality of Bucharest (2,080.2 thousand), Brasov (1,363 thousand), Constanta (1,312.4 thousand), and Cluj (652.7 thousand), while the number of tourist overnight stays recorded higher values in Constanta (5,010.8 thousand), the Municipality of Bucharest (3,398.8 thousand), Brasov (2,673.3 thousand), and Cluj (1,215.1 thousand).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The most arrivals of foreign tourists accommodated in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions came from Germany (326.2 thousand), Israel (277.5 thousand), Italy (240.2 thousand), France (170.6 thousand), and the U.S.A. (165.5 thousand).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, recorded at border points, were 11,720.4 thousand in the analyzed period, an increase of 7.3% compared to the same period of 2017.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe (92.4%). Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 49.2% come from European Union states.
