We will be able to relaunch Romanian spa tourism if we create a partnership between investors and town halls. Let’s conceive a different relationship between investors and local communities. It is more than clear to me that communities cannot develop without serious investments, especially from the private sector. On the other hand, mayors are very important for attracting money through local projects from the Modernization Fund for spa resorts certified according to the law,” specified Nicu Radulescu, according to Agerpres.

He estimated that although spa tourism accounts for about 30% of the total accommodation places in Romania, investments are amortized in 15-20 years, which is the longest period of time compared to the seaside or hotels in major cities.

„Everywhere, in all spa resorts, there is an interest in upgrading hotels from 2 to 3 stars, or from 3 to 4 stars. If the government program works, the objective is to bring all hotels to a higher classification. We have built a top hotel in every resort, but it is not enough. Real support from the Government is needed,” stated the OPTBR president.

He estimated that the spa sector could become the main source of incoming tourism, especially if internationally recognized products such as Ana Aslan, Gerovital, and Ionescu-Calinesti are revitalized.

Source: Wall-Street

Frequently Asked Questions

What drove the growth of Romanian spa tourism in 2018?

The 20-30% revenue increase was primarily driven by the introduction of holiday vouchers and specific government support programs.

How long does it take to recover investments in the spa sector?

Investments in spa tourism typically have an amortization period of 15-20 years, which is longer than for seaside or urban hotels.

Which Romanian brands could boost international tourism in spa resorts?

Revitalizing internationally recognized brands like Ana Aslan and Gerovital is seen as key to attracting more foreign tourists to the sector.

Spa tourism recorded a revenue increase of approximately 20-30% in 2018, thanks to holiday vouchers, and a 10-15% increase in tourist traffic, stated the president of the Employer’s Organization of Spa Tourism in Romania (OPTBR), Nicu Radulescu. „It is the first time the Government has come up with a program at our disposal, for spa…

[2858
["post-120294","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tourism
["GET
