Arrivals registered in tourist reception structures in August 2019 totaled 1,869.4 thousand, an increase of 1.1% compared to those in August 2018. Of these, arrivals of Romanian tourists represented 83.3%, while foreign tourists represented 16.7%.<\/div>\n

Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe – 76.4% of the total foreign tourists, and of these, 84.6% were from countries belonging to the European Union.<\/div>\n

Overnight stays registered in tourist reception structures in August 2019 totaled 5,057.7 thousand, an increase of 2.2% compared to those in August 2018. Of these, overnight stays of Romanian tourists represented 88.0%, while overnight stays of foreign tourists represented 12%.<\/div>\n

Higher occupancy rates in August 2019 were recorded in hotels (62.5%), bungalows (57.9%), tourist villas (49.6%), student and preschool camps (41.2%), hostels (40.3%), tourist chalets (36%), campsites (35.7%), accommodation spaces on ships (35.4%), tourist boarding houses (35%), and agritourism boarding houses (34.7%).<\/div>\n

Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at border points, were 1,703 thousand in August 2019, an increase of 15.3% compared to August 2018. Road and air transport were the most used for arrivals from abroad, representing 80.4% and 17.2%, respectively, of the total number of arrivals.<\/div>\n
