According to a law that is applied starting this year, the Government should have established by January 15 at the latest all the free days to be granted in 2020, before or after legal holidays, so that public sector employees, as well as tourism companies, could know when mini-vacations will exist.<\/div>\n

The Orban Government did not issue such a decision, considering that, according to the legal holiday calendar, there is no other day this year that could be considered a bridge for a mini-vacation.  <\/div>\n

The only additional free day for 2020 was the one established, at the end of last year, for January 3. According to government sources, the Government could not establish new free days considering that, apart from January 3, there is no other possible day for granting a „bridge” for a mini-vacation. Thus, the only mini-vacations will be those that naturally result from the calendar of free days for this year.<\/div>\n

Romanians have 15 legal free days this year. Thus, the calendar of legal free days in 2020 is:  January 1 and 2, 2020 – New Year (Wednesday and Thursday, and Friday, January 3, was free)  January 24 – Day of the Unification of the Romanian Principalities (Friday) April 17 – Good Friday (Friday) April 19, 20 – Easter (Sunday, Monday) May 1 – Labor Day (Friday) June 1 – Children’s Day (Monday) June 7 and 8 – Pentecost – (Sunday, Monday) August 15 – Assumption of Mary (Saturday) November 30 – Saint Andrew (Monday) December 1 – National Day of Romania (Tuesday) December 25 and 26 – Christmas (Friday, Saturday). <\/div>\n
