The message is sent after the number of infections in Romania has risen sharply recently, exceeding 1,000 daily cases, partly due to some terraces in holiday resorts failing to comply with protection and social distancing rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the organizations that signed the letter are the National Association of Travel Agencies, the Restaurant Association, the Hotel Industry Federation, the Ecotourism Association, the Tourism Workers Association, the National Federation of Tourist Guides, the Mamaia-Constan\u021ba Employers’ Organization, the Spa Tourism Employers’ Organization, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their representatives claim they have personally approached entrepreneurs tempted to put personal interests above those of the guild by disregarding safety measures, and they appeal to the authorities to order drastic measures against them if their efforts yield no results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, they demand that the entire industry not be stigmatized by being labeled as irresponsible and the primary cause for the increase in the number of infections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They further state that they support control actions where there are indications or complaints of non-compliance with safety measures, but they do not accept inspections conducted in a general manner, involving 5-6 authorities, which, in their opinion, descend upon establishments looking not only for irregularities but wanting to apply fines at any cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They also believe that other sectors can be a source of rapid pandemic spread and want these to be highlighted as well, not just their sector of activity. \u201eWe take responsibility for the guild’s problems, act responsibly in general, and directly address those who break the rules, but we refuse to be made scapegoats if pandemic figures rise, and we take the liberty to warn that, should we return to restrictions, this industry, which has been deeply affected, will not have the chance to recover, and the over 400,000 employees will face the fate of unemployment,\u201d the entrepreneurs conclude.<\/p>\n\n\n
