These were: Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Espoo (Finland), Ghent (Belgium), Groningen (Netherlands), Helsingborg (Sweden), Leeuwarden (Netherlands), Leuven (Belgium), Linz (Austria), Milan (Italy), Reykjavik (Iceland), Valencia (Spain), and Vienna (Austria).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the final stage, a high-level jury of independent experts interviewed and selected the six finalists after thorough interviews. Besides Cluj-Napoca, the list includes Vienna (Austria), Valencia (Spain), Espoo (Finland), Helsingborg (Suedia), and Leuven (Belgium).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Funded by Horizon 2020, the EU&#8217;s research and innovation program, the award recognizes excellent initiatives that position European cities as testing grounds for innovation.
