Most seaside hotels will not make a profit this year or their profit will be significantly diminished, but they will not record losses either, which, under the conditions of this difficult year for tourism, is a positive thing, stated Ionu\u021b Nedea, the general manager of the tour operator Litoralulromanesc.ro. He estimates that, in this context, bankruptcies in seaside tourism will not follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, seaside tourism has managed to remain in a sustainable zone, with an average decrease of 30% compared to last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, Nedea says, seaside tourism also needs grants and holiday vouchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Grants are necessary to ensure liquidity for hotels, because some of them have installments and have made investments in recent years. A potential halt in the issuance of holiday vouchers would come at the worst possible time, because they appeared as a response to the 2008 crisis, so the arguments from then are not only maintained but amplified. Stopping them would be a very bad thing not only for tourism but also for tourists, some of whom, thanks to these vouchers, reached the seaside for the first time in their lives,” Nedea stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He pointed out that the surplus due to vouchers was allocated by hoteliers for investments, as happened with the VAT reduction, and for this reason, rates did not decrease proportionally with the VAT reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This season, over 160,000 tourists reached the seaside through Litoralulromanesc.ro, 20% fewer compared to 2019. The value of the vacations amounts to 25 million EUR.<\/p>\n
