Overnight stays recorded in tourist reception structures in August 2020 totaled 3,446.9 thousand, a decrease of 31.8% compared to August 2019. Of these, 98% represented overnight stays of Romanian tourists, and 2% represented overnight stays of foreign tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding the overnight stays of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe \u2013 87.4% of the total foreign tourists, and of these, 79.7% were from European Union countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The average length of stay in August 2020 was 2.7 days for Romanian tourists and 2.2 days for foreign tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The net occupancy rate of accommodation places in August 2020 was 39.1% for total tourist accommodation structures, a decrease of 13% compared to August 2019. Higher occupancy rates in August 2020 were recorded in hotels \u2013 44.6%, accommodation on ships \u2013 42.4%, tourist chalets \u2013 39.2%, tourist villas \u2013 37.6%, bungalows \u2013 37%, tourist stops \u2013 32.9%, agritourism guesthouses \u2013 31.8%, and campsites \u2013 31.3%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, recorded at border points, were 490.3 thousand in August 2020, a decrease of 71.2% compared to August 2019. Road and air transport were the most used for arrivals from abroad, representing 86.4% and 11.2%, respectively, of the total number of arrivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, recorded at border points, were 982.2 thousand in August 2020, a decrease of 73% compared to August 2019. Road and air transport were the most used for departures abroad, representing 69.8% and 29.8%, respectively, of the total number of departures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arrivals recorded in tourist reception structures in the period January \u2013 August 2020 totaled 4,367.4 thousand, a decrease of 52.2% compared to the same period last year. Of these, 91.7% represented arrivals of Romanian tourists, and 8.3% represented arrivals of foreign tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe \u2013 77% of the total foreign tourists, and of these, 74.1% were from European Union countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overnight stays recorded in tourist reception structures in the period January \u2013 August 2020 totaled 10,163.4 thousand, a decrease of 51.3% compared to the same period last year. Of these, 92.3% represented overnight stays of Romanian tourists, and 7.7% represented overnight stays of foreign tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The average length of stay in the period January \u2013 August 2020 was 2.3 days for Romanian tourists and 2.2 days for foreign tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The net occupancy rate of accommodation places in the first eight months of this year was 25.9% for total tourist accommodation structures, a decrease of 9.2% compared to the same period in 2019. Higher occupancy rates were recorded in bungalows \u2013 33.6%, accommodation on ships \u2013 30.4%, hotels \u2013 30%, campsites \u2013 25.9%, tourist chalets \u2013 5.7%, tourist villas \u2013 24.2%, hostels, tourist stops, and agritourism guesthouses \u2013 each with 18.9%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, recorded at border points, were 3,709.5 thousand in the period January \u2013 August 2020, a decrease of 58.1% compared to the same period last year. Road and air transport were the most used for arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, representing 81.2% and 16.2%, respectively, of the total number of arrivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, recorded at border points, were 6,977.9 thousand in the analyzed period, a decrease of 56.9% compared to the same period in 2019.
