Regarding the overnight stays of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe – 83.8% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 73.3% were from countries belonging to the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The average length of stay in October 2020 was 2.1 days for Romanian tourists and 2.4 days for foreign tourists. The net occupancy rate of accommodation places in October 2020 was 17.5% for total tourist accommodation structures, a decrease of 16.8% compared to October 2019. Higher occupancy rates in October 2020 were recorded in ship-based accommodation (29.6%), hotels (21%), tourist villas (14.2%), tourist guesthouses (13.2%), agritourism guesthouses (12.3%), and hostels (12.1%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Foreign visitor arrivals in Romania, recorded at border points, were 351 thousand in October 2020, a decrease of 65.4% compared to October 2019. Road and air transport were the most used for arrivals from abroad, representing 86.4% and 10.3%, respectively, of the total number of arrivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, recorded at border points, were 711.7 thousand in October 2020, a decrease of 57.3% compared to October 2019. Road and air transport were the most used for departures abroad, representing 73.4% and 25.9%, respectively, of the total number of departures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The net occupancy rate of accommodation places in the analyzed period was 25% for total tourist accommodation structures, a decrease of 10.3% compared to the same period in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Higher occupancy rates in the period January \u2013 October 2020 were recorded in bungalows (31%), ship-based accommodation (29.3%), hotels (29.1%), campsites (24.5%), tourist cabins (23.9%), tourist villas (23.2%), tourist stops (19.6%), and agritourism guesthouses (18.2%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Foreign visitor arrivals in Romania, recorded at border points, were 4,459.9 thousand in the period January \u2013 October 2020, a decrease of 59.6% compared to the same period last year.
