The operational tourist accommodation capacity of tourist reception structures was, in the first nine months of 2020, 31% lower compared to the same period in 2019, according to data provided by the National Institute of Statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the analyzed period, hotels held the largest share, namely 60.8% of the total operational tourist accommodation capacity, followed by agrotourism pensions – 12.8%, tourist pensions – 90.8%, tourist villas – 4.4%, hostels – 3.5%, motels – 2.8%, and other types of tourist reception structures with tourist accommodation functions – 4.9%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The net utilization index of the operational tourist accommodation capacity in the period January – September 2020 was 25.9% for the total tourist reception structures with tourist accommodation functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The number of Romanian tourists staying in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions represented 92.4% of total arrivals. Compared to the same period in 2019, the number of arrivals decreased by 50.6% overall, with the number of arrivals of Romanian tourists recording a decrease of 42.8%, and that of foreign tourists a decrease of 81.3%. The number of overnight stays by Romanian tourists in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions represented 92.9% of total overnight stays. The total number of overnight stays decreased by 49.5%, with Romanian tourists’ overnight stays recording a 43.3% decrease, and foreign tourists’ a 79.3% decrease.<\/p>\n\n\n
