The accommodation capacity of tourist reception structures in the fourth quarter of 2020 was 16,526,600 places, 16.9% lower than in the same period of 2019, according to data provided by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).<\/p>\n
In the total tourist accommodation capacity in operation, hotels held a share of 58%, agrotourism guesthouses 15.2%, tourist guesthouses 12.7%, tourist villas 4.4%, hostels 3.6%, motels 3.2%, tourist chalets 1.8%, and other types of tourist reception structures with accommodation functions 1.1%.<\/p>\n
3-star hotels represented 46.2% of the total tourist accommodation capacity, followed by 4-star hotels – 33.8%, 2-star hotels – 12.3%, 5-star hotels – 6.4%, 1-star hotels – 1.2%, and unclassified hotels – 0.1%.<\/p>\n
By county, the largest share of tourist accommodation capacity in operation is held by Brasov County with 13.3%, followed by the Municipality of Bucharest with 9.5%, Prahova County with 5.5%, Valcea County with 5%, Cluj County with 4.5%, Bihor County with 4.2%, and Constanta and Suceava counties (each with 4%).<\/p>\n
