Carmen Palade, the former wife of businessman Dan Adamescu, has lost the Rex Hotel in Mamaia, valued at tens of millions of euros. She lost the hotel in exchange for the sum of 1.3 million EUR owed to the company Astra Asigur\u0103ri.<\/p>\n
The insurance company, which is in insolvency, has a judicial administrator and recently obtained, through a final sentence, the foreclosure of Carmen Palade and her mother Zinca, who are the main shareholders of the company that owns the hotel.<\/p>\n
Following the 2011 fire, the insurance company Astra, owned by Dan Adamescu at that time, made advance payments within the claim file for Rex. Subsequently, however, it was proven that the payments were higher by 1.3 million EUR, thus leading to court proceedings to recover the amount.<\/p>\n
The Rex Hotel was closed in 2010; a year later, in 2011, a fire broke out inside the hotel in the attic and stairwell area, which destroyed the roof over its entire surface and descended to the lower floors through the ventilation shafts; this was the fire for which the Astra company made the previously mentioned payments.<\/p>\n
In 2018, Carmen Palade put the hotel up for sale for a price of 18 million EUR, but no one wanted to pay this amount. Gigi Becali offered 10 million EUR, but Carmen Palade did not accept the sum.<\/p>\n
