Non-resident tourists arriving in Romania for business purposes spent 312.4 million RON. Of the total business expenditures, the largest share is represented by accommodation costs – 50.8%, with bed and breakfast accommodation being particularly preferred – 89% of total accommodation costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Non-resident tourists’ expenditures in restaurants and bars represented 18.2% of total spending, while shopping accounted for 14.4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Car rental expenses accounted for 74.5% of total transport costs, and expenses for entrance tickets to museums, tourist attractions, and zoos\/botanical gardens represented 31.3% of total recreation costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Non-resident tourists arriving in Romania for personal reasons spent 191.3 million RON.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second reason for staying in Romania was private travel, accounting for 40.4% of the total number of non-resident tourists, with holiday travel standing out – 55% of total private trips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The largest share of total expenditures made by non-resident tourists arriving in Romania for personal purposes is represented by accommodation costs – 46.5%, of which bed and breakfast accommodation holds the main share – 74%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Expenditures in bars and restaurants accounted for 17.9% of total personal spending, and shopping expenses represented 16% of the total expenditures of non-resident tourists arriving in Romania for personal reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Car rental expenses accounted for 57.8% of total transport costs, and expenses for access to amusement parks, fairs, casinos, and mechanical game halls represented 29.4% of total recreation costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the total non-residents arriving in Romania, 38.6% organized their stay on their own, while 33.1% used travel agencies. The rest of the stays had another organizer, 22%, as well as the travel agency for one part and the non-resident tourist for the other, 6.3%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main means of transport used by non-resident tourists to arrive in Romania was the plane (78.2% of the total number of tourists). Private cars represented 19.4%, followed by coaches and buses with 1.4% and other means 1%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the private trips, transit trips had more significant shares (21.7%), and of the professional ones, business (88.2%). In the first six months of 2021, non-resident tourists staying in private accommodation units largely organized their trip to Romania on their own (95.2% of the total), using the plane (35%), private car (33.6%), coach and bus (4.6%), train (12.2%), and other means of transport (14.6%) as means of transport.<\/p>\n\n\n
