Evolution of arrivals and overnight stays in January 2022<\/p>\n
Arrivals registered in tourist reception structures in January 2022 totaled 578.7 thousand people, an increase of 20.3% compared to January 2021. Of these, 90.9% represented arrivals of Romanian tourists, while 9.1% represented arrivals of foreign tourists.<\/p>\n
Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe, namely 78.1% of the total foreign tourists, and of these, 69.8% arrived from European Union countries.<\/p>\n
Overnight stays registered in tourist reception structures in January 2022 totaled 1,102.8 thousand, an increase of 24.7% compared to January 2021. Of these, 89% represented overnight stays of Romanian tourists and 11% represented overnight stays of foreign tourists.<\/p>\n
In terms of the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by tourists from Europe, namely 75.4% of the total foreign tourists, and of these, 68.7% came from European Union countries.<\/p>\n
The average length of stay in January 2022 was 1.9 days for Romanian tourists and 2.3 days for foreign tourists.<\/p>\n
The net occupancy rate of tourist accommodation places in January 2022 was 19.5% for total tourist accommodation structures, an increase of 2.3% compared to January 2021. Higher net occupancy rates in January 2022 were recorded in hotels (23.9%), bungalows (19.6%), tourist villas (17.4%), tourist pensions (15%), agritourism pensions (13.6%), tourist chalets (13%), holiday villages (12.2%), hostels (11.4%), and motels (10.3%).<\/p>\n
The most arrivals of foreign tourists came from: Germany (6.1 thousand people), Italy (4.7 thousand people), Israel and the Republic of Moldova (3.5 thousand people each), France (3.4 thousand people), the United Kingdom (2.5 thousand people), the U.S.A. (2.3 thousand people), and Hungary (2.2 thousand people).<\/p>\n
Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at border points, in January 2022 totaled 527.9 thousand people, an increase of 56.5% compared to the same period in 2021. Road and air transport means were the most used for arrivals from abroad, representing 81.4% and 15.6%, respectively, of the total number of arrivals.<\/p>\n
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at border points, in January 2022 totaled 1,070.5 thousand people, an increase of 42.1% compared to January 2021.<\/p>\n
Road and air transport means were the most used for departures abroad, representing 63.6% and 35.9%, respectively, of the total number of departures.<\/p>\n
Arrivals in apartments and rooms for rent registered in January 2022 totaled 51.3 thousand people, an increase of 55.5% compared to January 2021.<\/p>\n
Of the total number of arrivals in January 2022, arrivals of Romanian tourists in apartments and rooms for rent represented 96.1%, while foreign tourists represented only 3.9%.<\/p>\n
Overnight stays registered in apartments and rooms for rent in January 2022 totaled 97.5 thousand, an increase of 52.8% compared to January 2021.<\/p>\n
Of the total number of overnight stays in January 2022, overnight stays of Romanian tourists in apartments and rooms for rent represented 94.8%, while overnight stays of foreign tourists recorded a percentage of 5.2%.<\/p>\n
