{"id":117035,"date":"2022-04-03T02:12:05","date_gmt":"2022-04-02T23:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rhn.ro\/tourism-industry-needs-approximately-50000-workers\/"},"modified":"2026-03-07T01:32:01","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T23:32:01","slug":"tourism-industry-needs-approximately-50000-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rhn.ro\/en\/tourism-industry-needs-approximately-50000-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"Tourism Industry Needs Approximately 50,000 Workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The labor shortage in the tourism industry is approximately 50,000 workers, and the most acute problem is on the Romanian coast, where the presence of over 20,000 workers, predominantly seasonal, is necessary, informs the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MAT).<\/p>\n<p>On March 26, an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Constantin-Daniel Cadariu, took place, and the main theme of this meeting was the labor crisis facing Romanian tourism.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The private sector in the tourism industry has repeatedly signaled the existence of a labor shortage in this field, a problem that worsened during the pandemic when, for example, numerous structures with tourist reception functions were forced to restrict their activity, with employees being forced to move to other fields. In response, following consultations held at the prime minister level, we must unite efforts so that we come up with a package of measures in the short term, but also in perspective, to diminish this negative impact,&#8221; stated Constantin-Daniel Cadariu.<\/p>\n<p>In order to identify solutions, Aurelian Paduraru, Secretary of State within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Valentin-Ciprian Muntean, General Director of the Consular Department within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives of the profile industry, were present at the discussions.<\/p>\n<p>Among the short-term solutions identified are the import of workers from non-EU countries, the quota established for this year being 100,000, and the ways in which the time required for granting visas can be reduced, as well as the correlation of the residence visa with the work\/employer visa.<\/p>\n<p>In continuing the dialogue, Minister Cadariu proposed organizing a new meeting at Victoria Palace during the next week, with the involvement of all decision-makers, to create an action plan.<\/p>\n<p>The profile industry was represented at the meeting by Daniel Mischie, President of the Alliance for Tourism (APT), Dragos Raducanu, First Vice-President of the Federation of Romanian Tourism Employers (FPTR), Andreea Medvedovici, Executive Director of the Federation of Employers in the Hospitality Industry of Romania (FPIOR), as well as other members of these associative structures.<\/p>\n<h3>Frequently Asked Questions<\/h3>\n<p><strong>What is the total labor shortage in Romanian tourism?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The industry faces a deficit of approximately 50,000 workers nationwide.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Which region is most affected by the staff shortage?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Romanian coast is the most affected area, requiring over 20,000 predominantly seasonal workers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What measures are being taken to address the crisis?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Authorities are focusing on importing 100,000 non-EU workers and streamlining the visa process for foreign employees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The labor shortage in the tourism industry is approximately 50,000 workers, and the most acute problem is on the Romanian coast, where the presence of over 20,000 workers, predominantly seasonal, is necessary, informs the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MAT).
